Ingredients
  

Beef Cuts

  • 1 pound flank steak or skirt steak or sirloin

Rice

  • 1 cup Jasmine rice or Basmati rice

Sauces and Seasonings

  • ¼ cup soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp hoisin sauce
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 inch ginger grated
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1 tbsp sugar

Instructions
 

  • Thinly slice the beef against the grain.
  • Marinate the beef in soy sauce, hoisin sauce, garlic, and ginger for at least 30 minutes.
  • Wash the rice under cold water until the water is clear.
  • Cook the rice in a rice cooker with the correct water-to-rice ratio.
  • In a hot wok, stir-fry the marinated beef until it is browned, ensuring it remains tender.
  • In the same wok, combine soy sauce, hoisin sauce, sugar, and cornstarch mixed with water. Stir until the sauce thickens.
  • Add the cooked rice to the wok with the beef and stir to coat everything with the sauce.

Notes

You can substitute the beef for chicken, pork, or tofu. Adjust sweetness or saltiness by tweaking the sugar and soy sauce to taste.
